Texas Vocational

It is expected that over the next 15 years, the need for trained workers will continue to increase in the areas of health care, trade, and business. Private career schools will continue to provide a cost effective alternative to traditional education by providing the workforce with trained workers. Private career schools are the best kept secret in Texas.

Texas Vocational Schools has provided education and hands on training in welding technology since 1967, adding business technology in 1984 and electronic technology in 1988. TVS is an accredited private career school of postsecondary occupational education dedicated exclusively to training students for today's workforce. TVS was founded by H.E. and Angie S. Boone and is located in the heart of Victoria at 1921 E. Red River. The main campus, which houses the business and electronic programs, occupies 13,144 square feet. The extension facility, located near downtown Victoria at 201 E. Rio Grande, occupies 3,300 square feet and houses the welding program.

Texas Vocational Schools' purpose is to train individuals through a modern curriculum and to supplement their classroom study with hands-on experience geared to real job situations, utilizing up-to-date equipment and laboratories. This training and experience enables the graduates to find gainful employment wherever they choose to live.

In the Business programs, students become more proficient in computer skills, accounting, business practices and terminology. Graduates of the Electronic program become computer maintenance technicians, instrumentation technicians, lab technicians, engineering technicians, electronic mechanics and field service technicians. TVS is author to administer certification exams for the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) as well as CET (Certified Electronic Technician) licensing. The Welding program trains students to the A.WS. Certification Codes, as recognized by the Amencan Welding Society and The American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

TVS is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Council on Occupational Education and approved by the U.S. Department of Education. This accrerditatuib denotes that TVS meets not only the standards of quality of the Commission, but also the needs of students, the community and employers.

TVS is approved by the Texas Workforce Commission, Division of Proprietary Schools and Veterans Education. Additionally, TVS works with the following agencies: State Approval for Veteran's Education; Texas Rehabilitation Commission; Texas Conmlission for the Blind; Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA); Trade Adjustment Act (TAA); Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission (Older Workers Training Program); Armed Forces; Career Center of Texas; Texas Workforce Commission; and the Tech-Prep School to Work. TVS is a member of Career Colleges and Schools of Texas as well as the three Chambers of Commerce in Victoria.

The best kept secret in Texas, Texas Vocational Schools, a private career school, continues their tradition of training students for today's fast-paced workforce.

Golden Crescent Tech Prep/School to Work Program

This program represents a partnership between regional high schools, the community college, and business. Projected regional technical/professional work force demands have been identified by occupation. New curricula have been designed that combine academic and technical skills.

Tech Prep programs include up to four years of instruction at the high school level. College-capable high school graduates have the option of entering the work force with marketable skills or going on to college to study and obtain at least a two-year associate degree.

If your work force requirements include an academically-oriented technology degree or a four-year college degree, your needs will be met in Victoria.

And, if you have a special need, leaders at the Victoria College and the University of Houston-Victoria will work with you to develop a program specifically designed for your business. Classes and training can be held on campus or on your job site.
