On April 10th and 11th
Tours recently have alternated between the Victoria Heights Historic District (the northwest part of “old”
O’Connor-Proctor Building - 202 N.
J. D. Mitchell House - 301 S. Bridge
Robert L. Lawrence House - 406
Dr. George M. Tyng House - 302 E.
The oldest structure on the tour is the J. D. Mitchell House, completed in 1893. It is a grand Queen Anne confection, recently restored and stopping traffic at Bridge Street & Juan Linn. The 1895 O’Connor-Proctor Building has been recently given a million dollar restoration. You need to see this one! 1902 brought the construction of the John C. Sigmund House and Dr. George McAlpine Tyng’s residence. Both stand restored, and are dripping with charm. Francis E. Huck’s craftsman style bungalow features architectural details which were emerging from the late Victorian era; it is roomy and inviting. The Robert L.
